Editorial policy

The rules the Basis Desk system operates under, and what you can hold us to.

Sources

We treat as primary sources: regulators, courts and government bodies; protocol teams, foundations and their official channels; exchanges' and companies' official announcements; client and protocol release notes; established security researchers; and on-chain data. Each source in our registry carries an authority weight. Other media are used only as a signal that a story exists — never as the source of facts or text.

Verification

  • Every factual claim must be supported by a cited source; unsupported claims are removed before publication.
  • Numbers that can be checked against live market data are checked; a mismatch blocks publication.
  • Drafts are screened for verbatim copying from sources; more than a short phrase in common fails the check.
  • Allegations of wrongdoing must be attributed to a court, regulator, official statement or the accused party, and worded no more strongly than the source. Drafts that fail this are held for human review.
  • Advice-like language and price predictions are prohibited and removed.

Labelling

Articles carry the byline "Basis Desk Newsroom · AI-generated, source-verified", list their sources, and show publication and update times. Single-source items are labelled as such. Explainers show a "last reviewed" date.

Updates and corrections

When a story develops, we append an update to the original article rather than publishing a duplicate. Material errors are corrected in the article with a visible note and recorded on the corrections page. Articles that should not have been published are removed and return HTTP 410.

Independence

We accept no payment for coverage. There is no advertising or affiliate revenue at this stage; if that changes, commercial content will be labelled and separated from editorial output.
