Key points

  • BitGo Bank & Trust enabled Lido ETH staking for eligible institutional clients in the US.
  • Clients can stake ETH, hold stETH, and execute redemptions inside their existing BitGo accounts.
  • The institutional expansion follows an initial rollout across Europe and Asia completed in July 2025.

BitGo Bank & Trust, N.A. has rolled out Ethereum staking via the Lido protocol to eligible US clients, expanding access to liquid staking across its institutional platform 1. The update allows qualifying US account holders to stake $ETH and hold the resulting liquid staking token, stETH, directly within their existing BitGo custody infrastructure 1.

The domestic rollout follows an earlier launch in Europe and Asia in July 2025, when BitGo first integrated Lido into its custody environment 1. Under the expanded integration, eligible US institutions holding ETH can enter staking positions, custody their stETH, track exposures through the BitGo dashboard, and redeem their stETH back for ETH directly on the platform 1.

Institutional Custody Integration

Kean Gilbert, head of institutional relations at the Lido Ecosystem Foundation, noted that institutional staking strategies require direct custodian integration to be viable for corporate entities 1. Nathan Stump, managing director and head of ecosystem sales at BitGo, stated that the expansion allows institutional clients to participate in staking yields without introducing unnecessary operational hurdles, maintaining their pre-existing compliance controls 1.

The move marks continued institutional integration for the Lido protocol, which recently weathered operational shifts after MetaMask Staking exits Lido validators following infrastructure compromise. At the time of writing, ETH traded at $2,566, down 5.5% over the prior 24 hours, amid broader crypto market capitalization dipping to $2.82 trillion.
